Studies have already shown different benefits like reducing blood pressure and the risk of cardiovascular disease, helping on the endothelial function, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, asthma, bronchial hyperactivity, persistent allergic rhinitis, digestive issues and some types of cancer (specially lung cancer). But it is important to note that even being such a healthy fruit full of vitamins, minerals and enzymes, moderation is the key. This is because of the fructose content, especially if you’re insulin resistant. When considering eating apple every day, you can have an idea of the good portion for you based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) notes:
Children under 8 — 1 to 1 1/2 cups per day
Children and teens — 1 1/2 to 2 cups of fruit per day
Women age 19 to 30 — 2 cups per day, while women older than 30 — 1 1/2 cups per day
Men of any age — 2 cups of fruit per day
And 1 cup of apple can be count as one small apple or ½ big apple.
Remember thou, when we say fruit, it is to eat the fruit and not to drink it. As when we make the juice we lose the benefits of the whole fruit.
